Case Study One

Baldock

At the start of 2006, the garden of this historic house in Baldock was just a rubble filled building site , full of weeds and debris.

The customer required a garden that was very low maintenance, had a large lawn for a play area, a patio in the sun and simple planting.

Cathy produced a design what met with all these specifications and at the same time was modern in shape, but used materials sympathetic to the older buildings around the site. Its was designed to be both inviting, uncomplicated and a pleasure to sit and relax in and view from both ends of the garden.

We are all extremely pleased with the result and look forward to seeing the garden develop and grow over the next few years.

Case Study Two

Ipswich

This was a blank canvas to work with, but the soil was very sandy and the site open to the elements. The householder wanted a garden that contained both a vegetable plot and planted area that he could construct himself, step by step.

Having cut the garden in half to grow vegetables at the rear, Cathy chose a simple and symmetrical design to complement the bungalow shape and to emphasize the sense of space. Following Cathy's design and planting plan, the house-holder has gradually completed the lanscaping and planting work himself. The pond is the next item on the agenda.

Welwyn Garden City

This customer had a small garden which had become too much for her to look after. She needed low levels of planting and maintenance and somewhere out of sun to sit.

Cathy's redesign of this garden enabled the customer to keep favourite plants and accessories. Although most shrubs and features were removed, the changes ensured the garden still felt mature, intersting and private and had a shady new patio to sit in.

Case Study Four

Hertfordshire River banks

This large country garden in Hertfordshire is situated on the banks of a river. The main garden was to be redesigned completely and the river bank replanted on one side with native plants and the other, in a "cottage" style to compliment the house.

Cathy has planned the garden to encorporate an extended view of the distant rolling fields. The garden has been split into 4 smaller spaces, each with its own character and mood, but linked by the octagonal pergola and cross paths. Access to all parts of the garden has been much improved.

We are keen to see the garden develop as the planting matures
